Developed by the Home Office Scientific Development Branch (PSDB) the HG1 KR1 & SP1 Soft Armour Panel (SAP) vest is the British equivelent version of the NIJ Levels.

With Protection so high on the list of priorities with such organisations as Councils and Hospitals, the HOSDB vest has been tested to ensure protection against the latest threats in the UK.

Essentially this vest covers against 3 main threats, Hand Guns (HG1) Edged Weapons (KR1) and Needle/Syringe Resistance (SP1).

The vest consists of the outer carrier and two internal Soft Armour Panels (SAP) situated to the front and back of the vest.

The Panels are the thinnest (only 3mm), and the lightest in the UK that offers this amount of protection. They are extremely flexible and robust.

There is a choice of carrier for the panels. Covert, Black Codura and Navy Quilted. Each carrier has its own advantages and is suited better to different environments. Whilst the covert can be worn discreetly under a uniform or standard clothing, the Codura and Navy Quilted offer a non threatening appearance as part of a uniform.
Its versatility allows the Soft Armour Panels to be removed from the carrier for maintenance or to be used in another of the three available carriers for these panels.
